Thelvyner's Tips
Last updated: July 29, 1999
The price of magic items obtained from quests (such as the Bloodforge
Hammer) is plummeting extremely fast because of the severe influx of these
items. It is getting hard to sell certain items such as banded because
now newbies seem to be getting their armor and such from previous players.
Unless EQ does something about the constant influx and nil out flux
Bristlebain is going to have bad economy.
Thelvyner has explored Befallen:
1st level is good for levels 6-8
2nd level is good for levels 11-15
3rd level is good for 20+ (very dangerous)
Thelvyner has explored Unrest somewhat (EXTREMELY DANGEROUS)
not good unless you are at least level 14+ (best if over level 20).
*WARNING* Trains are some of the worst I've seen. Ever heard
of a festering hag? They are in there. Good exp is Death Beetle.
(loot cracked carapace worth almost 2gp each selling to Freeport vendors)
Unrest is also the home of the Undead Knight (loot bloodstained armor)
Excellent money if you live.
Thelvyner has explored Crushbone:
good for levels 8-20
The orcs are good exp up till about 15 then go for the royal orc family.
Emperor Crush has excellent armor for small people Ambassador Dvinn has
the fabled dragoon dirk. Crush is about level 20 and Dvinn about 23.
Thelvyner's personal tips:
-
High level bards make the best taxi service.
-
Make sure if you are getting SoW for a trip it is cast by at least a level
20 or it might wear off halfway there.
-
Not a good idea to travel solo through High pass until about level 12.
-
If taking a boat trip and the servers have been on the fritz lately, put
your armor and stuff in bank. I've had the boat crash on me and I
lost everything I had on me.
-
NPC's con is always wrong An NPC that cons green might still kill
you easily. Take Dorn the Dark Elf in North Ro.
-
Don't allow yourself to get KOS in towns with good guards until about 20.
-
When on a long trip and far from a town pack light, you'll never
know when you find some good stuff but it could weigh you down and then
you will be a target for those quick monsters.
-
Casters do NOT make good soloists.
-
If anyone offers you something (unless it is a mistake) always accept and
correct problem later. Don't cheat them but always accept.
If it's money and you don't need it donate it to the guild.
-
As your defense skill goes up a piece of armor will give you more AC then
it says. For example: your defense skill is at 100 and you put on something
with 15 AC it will actually give you around 25 AC.
-
If waiting for a boat always fish! Even if you lose a few silvers,
when your skill gets up there you will be pulling them in quick and making
like 1pp for waiting for the boat.
-
If you are a tank and lower level, find some easy blue monster and let
it hit you for your AC. It is the simplest way to get your defense
up quick.
-
Max skill formula is Level # +1 times 5. This means if you are level
5 your skill max is 30. Some trade skills and languages are excluded.
-
High level bards make the best people to get your levels up with. Don't
group with them but let them tank with the sleep song or something while
you just murder the monsters. You get very good exp from killing yellow
or red con solo and not lose 1 hp.
If anyone finds any I'm looking for magic 1h slash preferably
whips - I'm in desperate need of them.
